Comms guidelines

BITS Sarthi Comms is for useful answers, accountable participation and student safety. These rules apply to posts, replies, attachments and profiles.

  1. 1. One honest account

Post as yourself under one username. Your real name is private to the BITS Sarthi team. Don't impersonate another person, a BITS official, a mentor or the BITS Sarthi team, and don't create accounts to get around a restriction.

  2. 2. Respect everyone

No harassment, bullying, threats or insults. No discrimination or hate based on caste, religion, gender, sexuality, region, language, disability, background or marks.

  3. 3. Protect privacy

Don't share anyone's phone number, address, email, documents, photos or results without their consent, and don't ask others for theirs. Never share passwords or OTPs.

  4. 4. No cheating

Don't share, request or sell questions or answers from live or upcoming tests, BITSAT papers before they're public, or ways to get around test rules. Test discussions open only after you've submitted that test; don't pass them to people who haven't.

  5. 5. No spam or selling

No advertising, referral links, paid groups, coaching promotions or repeated posts. Share resources only when they help someone.

  6. 6. Be accurate and useful

Explain your reasoning, say when you're unsure, and mark the reply that answered your question. Admissions details change every year: link to the official BITS admissions pages.

  7. 7. Keep it safe

If someone is in danger or talks about harming themselves, contact local emergency services. Report anything that breaks these rules instead of replying to it.

Reporting, blocking and moderation

Use Report on any post, reply or member. Reports are confidential: the member doesn't see who reported them. You can block a member so you don't see each other's posts and they can't reply to you.

The BITS Sarthi team reviews reports. Depending on what happened, we may remove content, stop someone posting for a while (they can still read), or suspend their Comms access. We tell you what we decided and why, and you can appeal any decision about you within 14 days from Comms → Settings.

Attachments: up to 3 MB per member per day across all posts and replies (images and PDFs). Location data is removed from photos.

Who can see what: discussions are visible to signed-in members. Your test scores, attempts, Study Buddy logs and other records are never shown in Comms unless you choose to share a Study Buddy session card.
